We have just witnessed spike in communal violence in some regions of the country and beyond.

For example, the recent deadly armed clashes in Abyei Administrative Area and the fighting in the cattle camp of Luacjang in Warrap state should be wake up call to the authorities to think of how to guarantee security ahead of the upcoming elections.

Many people in and outside South Sudan are skeptical on whether the elections will turnout peaceful due to the recent history of the country.

President Salva Kiir and other leaders in the coalition government have a huge task at hand of convincing not only the citizens but also outsiders  on whether they can hold free, fair and credible elections.
