The U.S Ambassador in South Sudan, Michael J. Adler, has called on parties to the 2018 revitalized peace agreement to dialogue over the pending critical issues in order to speed up the implementation of the peace deal.

“We look to the leaders of this country, we look to the parties of this country to engage in honest dialogue to implement peace commitments,” Adler said during the opening of the 12th Provincial Standing Committee Meeting of the Episcopal Church of South Sudan on Wednesday in Juba.

Adler stressed the need for parties to engage in a dialogue to reach consensus on modalities on how to implement several key provisions in the agreement.

He underscored the importance of giving South Sudanese peace and prosperity they deserve to flourish.

“I hesitate to quote a religious thinker in a church in front of such a distinguished person, but I think of an American pastor who once said, faith gains the most, love works the most, but humility gains the most,” said Adler.

Adler thanked the church and other religious institutions for advocating for peace in the country.

He also urged the South Sudanese to commit themselves in embracing peace.

“All must be committed to peace. All must be committed to supporting peace for all human beings. And when I come here, I am reminded of how many South Sudanese are committed to that, and we will always stand with those who work for peace,” said Adler.

The 12th Anglican Church Provincial Standing Committee Meeting, a key gathering of its highest governing body in Juba that commenced is expected to end on 22nd November, 2024.
