"We Dare where others fear"
South Sudanese have been known to be patient with their leaders, but this patience could run out if the leaders don’t rethink their attitude towards critical issues of governance.
Even before the arrival of the first colonialists on the African continent, our chiefs were democratic and therefore, this issue of claiming that we are borrowing or copying European type of democracy is a fallacy or joke that should not be tolerated at all costs.
For example, the Chinese have their own understanding of politics and governance, which outsiders may not understand because of the clash of cultural civilizations.
The petty violent clashes that erupted on Thursday night, around the home of the former Director General of the Internal Security Bureau (ISB), Akol Koor Kuc, demonstrate the weakness and cracks within the security detail of the President and even those he has charged with supporting him in various security roles.
The tension and sounds of artillery shelling that shook the population in Juba, and sent thousands scampering for safety should not be taken as a one off incident because many have happened before this one.
This one shows how our leaders are incapable of understanding the critical notions of intelligence and security, why create a fuss or hullabaloo about someone many thought was contained after being put under surveillance and house arrest. This presents a bad image for our President and his entire government.
