The long-awaited equipment for rehabilitation of roads in Ezo County of Western Equatoria State arrived on Wednesday in the County.
The equipment is meant to facilitate repairs on the road connecting Ezo to Source Yubu ahead of the centenary celebration of the Catholic Diocese of Tambura-Yambio on December 5, 2024.
The Committee, formed earlier this month to oversee and strategize the road project, faced setbacks due to a shortage of tools, the new donation, which includes pangas, spades, pickaxes, and wheelbarrows, comes as the community prepares for the Centenary celebration on December 5, 2024.
In an interview with The Dawn, Rev. Fr. William Abash, Parish priest of Regina Mundi Parish in Ezo, said the arrival of the tools signal resumption of work on the road project.
He expressed gratitude for the donation, highlighting its significance for the community.
“We are very happy to have received these tools. The community is now back to work, filling potholes. We extend our heartfelt thanks to His Lordship Barani Edward Hiiboro Kussala for his unwavering support and to all who contributed to this effort,” said Abash.
Abash noted that the project had stalled due to lack of equipment but assured that the community was eager to press forward.
He emphasized that the road equipment would speed up progress, ensuring the road is ready in time for the centenary celebration in Ngboko.
Bishop Hiiboro has been a central figure in rallying resources and support for the project, with the Diocese emphasizing the importance of manual and collective participation in addressing infrastructure challenges in the area.
