The former Governor of Central Equatoria State, Gen. Augustino Jadalla Kamilo Wani, expressed his gratitude on Tuesday for his dismissal, thanking President Salva Kiir for the opportunity to serve the country.
His comments came a day after President Kiir sacked him in a presidential decree read on the state-owned SSBC on Monday night.
Kiir replaced him with Gen. Rabi Mujung Emmanuel without providing reasons.
“I extend my deepest appreciation and sincere gratitude to Your Excellency for the trust, confidence, and opportunity you bestowed upon me to serve as governor of Central Equatoria State in our nation’s journey toward peace, stability, and development,” Jadalla said in a letter seen by Dawn on Tuesday.
Gen. Jadalla welcomed his successor, Gen. Rabi Mujung Emmanuel, pledging to support him in succeeding in his leadership.
“I equally take this opportunity to warmly congratulate the newly appointed Governor of Central Equatoria State, H.E. Lt. Gen. Rabi Mujung Emmanuel,” he said.
“I am confident that under his leadership and in continued alignment with your national agenda, the people of Central Equatoria State will witness greater progress, peace, and transformation,” he added.
“He inherits a resilient people and state on a firm foundation—ready to rise higher in the service of the Republic.”
He promised to uphold the principles of service, unity, and patriotism with humility and dedication.
“It has been a profound honour to execute the responsibilities of this high office under your wise and visionary leadership.”
The former governor reiterated his steadfast dedication to the SPLM's vision.
“And to continue Your Excellency’s efforts to consolidate peace, promote national cohesion, and deliver development to every corner of South Sudan.”
Jadalla, a member of the ruling SPLM party and a popular figure in the state, had served as governor since May 2024. He previously held the position of governor of the now-defunct Jubek State.
