The Association of Gynaecologists and Obstetricians of South Sudan (AGOSS) has launched a blood donation drive at Juba Teaching Hospital to help save mothers suffering from anemia and other pregnancy-related complications requiring urgent blood transfusions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

AGOSS President Idyoro Ikarak stated that the initiative aims to increase the availability of blood for mothers receiving care in the hospital’s maternity department.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“The blood drive is essential for mothers and other community members. When blood is readily available at the blood bank,it is easy to provide transfusions to mothers in need,” Ikarak explained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She emphasized the importance of close monitoring for all women after childbirth. “When postpartum hemorrhage is diagnosed, teams should act without delay,” she added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Anthony Lupai, Director General of Juba Teaching Hospital, affirmed that the blood drive, launched by AGOSS with support from partners, is saving lives at the hospital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“The blood drive, initiated by the Association of Gynaecologists and Obstetricians alongside other implementing partners, is helping to save lives at risk,” Lupai said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He highlighted the critical issue of maternal mortality in South Sudan. “South Sudan continues to carry a very high burden of maternal mortality globally.We should translate evidence into action so that no mother dies while giving birth because of postpartum hemorrhage,” he urged.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
