You have demonstrated that disability is not inability,\u201d Awet said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She emphasized that sports play an important role in empowering young people, fostering teamwork, promoting unity, and creating opportunities for persons with disabilities to showcase their talents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Awet reiterated the Ministry&#8217;s commitment to promoting inclusive sports, supporting persons with disabilities, strengthening partnerships, and empowering young people across the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She encouraged both teams to uphold fair play and sportsmanship, describing the event as an opportunity to advance unity and inclusion through sports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI wish both teams a fair and exciting match. I hope everyone enjoys the game, and I believe we are already witnessing the spirit of sportsmanship,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She &nbsp;also encouraged South Sudan&#8217;s national team ahead of its planned trip to Egypt at the end of October, urging the players to represent the country with pride.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cTo the national team, I understand that you will be travelling to Egypt at the end of this month. I wish you, your families and the entire team all the best as you prepare for the trip. Go out there and represent the flag of South Sudan with pride,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Her remarks underscored the importance of supporting athletes with disabilities and providing them with opportunities to compete, develop their skills, and represent the country in sporting events.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Meanwhile, Josephine Kiden, a representative of students with disabilities, highlighted the challenges faced by persons with disabilities, particularly the lack of sign language interpretation services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Kiden appealed to the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Juba to provide a sign language interpreter to improve communication and ensure that students with hearing impairments can participate fully in university activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She emphasized the importance of involving persons with disabilities in decisions that affect their lives, stressing the need for their voices to be heard and their concerns addressed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cNothing for us without us,\u201d Kiden said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Her appeal highlighted the need for institutions of higher learning to strengthen accessibility and adopt inclusive practices that enable students with disabilities to participate equally in academic and extracurricular activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The event concluded with the University of Juba team defeating the national team by three goals.
