Gen. Rin Tueny Mabor Deng has called on government officials to strengthen security, protect lives and property, and promote peaceful coexistence. His administration pledges to prioritize peace and stability in the lead-up to the December 2026 general elections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Speaking on Wednesday during an address to newly appointed government officials, after they were sworn in, Mabor emphasized that security is a collective responsibility and urged an end to incidents of violence across the state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He also encouraged officials to foster peace and unity with the six states bordering Lakes State.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;The political space is open for all parties to participate in this upcoming general election, to contest and campaign, and to conduct their political business peacefully; their protection will be provided,&#8221; Mabor stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He added that the caretaker government has been streamlined to seven ministers and appealed to the public to respect these changes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The governor also highlighted food insecurity as a major challenge for residents, stressing that people should be free to move in search of food. He noted that the southern part of the country would host cattle for grazing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mabor urged county commissioners to engage young people in productive activities, encouraging them to channel their energy toward supporting development rather than intercommunal fighting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He further cautioned commissioners against the misuse of state resources, emphasizing that the management of public resources remains under the authority of the state government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;The state authority is solely in charge of these resources,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Meanwhile, Manyang Luk Lueth, the newly appointed Caretaker Minister for Local Government and Law Enforcement Agency, reaffirmed the officials&#8217; commitment to promoting security, peace, unity, and development throughout the state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Lueth stated that the newly appointed officials are prepared to carry out their responsibilities and work toward improving stability and governance at all levels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Representing the eight caretaker county commissioners, Manyiel Riak Manyiel, the Caretaker Commissioner of Rumbek Central County, also pledged to prioritize security and stability across the counties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The caretaker government&#8217;s leadership structure comprises seven ministers, eight county commissioners, four advisers, four independent commissions, a commissioner of the Revenue Authority and her deputy, as well as a town mayor and deputy mayor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The new administration is expected to focus on strengthening security, promoting peaceful coexistence, addressing food insecurity, and creating an environment conducive to political participation ahead of the December 2026 elections.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Lakes State Caretaker Governor Lt.
