The initiative targets four underserved locations\u2014Kuach, Kuerguiny, Wathnyotna, and Chotyiel\u2014where access to essential nutrition support remains inadequate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The funding will prioritize outreach services in these areas to address critical gaps in nutrition assistance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In a press release issued Tuesday by the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany, German Ambassador to South Sudan Sebastian Br\u00f6kelmann reaffirmed Germany&#8217;s commitment to supporting the country&#8217;s most vulnerable populations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;Germany is continuously supporting the people of South Sudan. We focus on the needs of the most vulnerable groups,&#8221; Br\u00f6kelmann said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;With this new funding, we want to support underserved communities in Guit County, Unity State. By funding the Coalition for Humanity&#8217;s project, we want to ensure that the affected vulnerable population, particularly women and children, have adequate support to combat acute malnutrition.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ambassador Br\u00f6kelmann highlighted Germany&#8217;s role as South Sudan&#8217;s second-largest bilateral donor, underscoring its commitment to the nation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The emergency response will prioritize young children, pregnant women, and breastfeeding mothers, who face increased risks associated with acute malnutrition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The assistance will also target displaced people, returnees, and households whose access to food, healthcare, nutrition services, and other essential support has been disrupted by conflict and recurrent flooding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The funding will focus on hard-to-reach communities that are frequently cut off during flooding or periods of insecurity, limiting their access to established nutrition facilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Guit County continues to face a prolonged nutrition emergency driven by acute food insecurity, flooding, displacement, localized insecurity, disease risks, disruptions to humanitarian assistance, and major access constraints.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The county is classified under Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) Phase 4 for acute food insecurity, with acute malnutrition identified as a major concern.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Germany has provided funding to the Coalition for Humanity to expand emergency nutrition services for vulnerable communities in Guit County, Unity State.
