Gen. Moses Majok Gatluak Thou, called on Sudan People&#8217;s Liberation Movement\/Army-in-Opposition (SPLM\/A-IO) forces to withdraw from Pieri and Motot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This demand followed an alleged report of SPLA-IO troops advancing into government-controlled areas, which threatens ongoing peace efforts in Northern Jonglei.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In a statement issued by Khan Banguot Gok, on Sunday, Press Secretary in the Office of the Caretaker Governor of Jonglei State, it was alleged that SPLM\/A-IO forces had moved into Pieri and Motot. The statement described these reported advances as a threat to dialogue and efforts to restore stability in the area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;Instead, SPLM\/A-IO forces are trying to exploit this recent initiative by invading Pieri and Motot areas, which are under government control. This may undermine the governor&#8217;s call for dialogue and threaten ongoing peace efforts,&#8221; the Sunday statement read.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It affirmed the state government&#8217;s commitment to resolving tensions in the region through peaceful dialogue and urged SPLM\/A-IO forces to exercise restraint and avoid further military advances.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;During the reception event, the Caretaker Governor, H.E. Maj. Gen. Moses Majok Gatluak Thou, called on SPLM\/A-IO forces to remain in their areas while peaceful efforts are pursued.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;This call was made to protect civilians, prevent further insecurity, and create an enabling environment for dialogue.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The state government called on SPLM\/A-IO forces to immediately withdraw from Pieri and Motot and return to their previous positions to allow the peaceful process to proceed without further disruption, the statement said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;The Caretaker Governor of Jonglei State remains firmly committed to resolving the situation through dialogue. He urges SPLM\/A-IO forces to exercise restraint, halt further military advances, and prioritize the safety and protection of civilians.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The government further called upon political leaders, community representatives, and all concerned stakeholders to support the peace process and work collectively toward lasting peace and stability in Northern Jonglei.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;Peaceful dialogue must be respected, military escalation must be avoided, and civilian lives must remain our collective priority.&#8221;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Caretaker Governor of Jonglei State, Maj.
