Innovating to solve food crises

It is midday in Halbul and the harsh dry season heat is taking a toll on farmer Nyandeng Noon Agany as she makes her way through the village to her house. Wooden poles, a thatched roof, and papyrus walls make the place she and her six children call home. Nyandeng’s children are taking shelter from the heat under the porch, eagerly awaiting their mother’s arrival.

Cassava crop a boon for hunger prone Warrap state

Cassava is another crop helping communities overcome challenges produced by the climate crisis in Gogrial West County of Warrap State. The introduction of cassava crop by the World Food Programme (WFP) early this year has become a boon for a population that is prone to climatic shocks such as flooding and drought in Warrap state.
