President Kiir assures South Sudanese of stable security

President Salva Kiir Mayardit on Thursday assured of maintaining sustainable peace and security across the country.
In statement issued after Kiir’s meeting with the Secretary General of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM), James Wani Igga, he said the SPLM has reaffirmed unwavering dedication to creating a united and secure South Sudan despite challenges.

Speaking yesterday to journalists upon arrival of the prophet, Pastor James Anei Demi, who leads the Church of God Love for All Nation, said the nation is in dire need of divine intervention.

Top UN official calls on parties to urgently de-escalate tensions

The Secretary-General’s Special Representative and Head of the United Nations Mission in South Sudan Nicholas Haysom, has urged the parties to the 2018 revitalized peace agreement signatories to de-escalate tensions and prevent the deteriorating political and security situation from relapsing into widespread conflict.

Government encourages voluntary return of refugees

The government has encouraged the voluntary return of refugees in neighboring countries following recent aid cuts by the U.S government, which are vital for their welfare.

This came in the aftermath of the protest by South Sudanese refugees over scarcity of food and water in Kakuma refugee camp, Kenya on March 3, 2025.

WES Students’ Union Discusses Students Challenges

Western Equatoria State (WES) Students' Union leaders on Wednesday held meeting with Daniel Badagbu Rimbasa, Acting Governor of Western Equatoria State.

During the meeting, the Chairperson of the WES Youth Union, Mathew Mubarak, raised several pressing issues, such as lack of office space, office equipment, limited youth engagement activities, and the absence of transportation to support their operations.

Government requires $300 million to fund HIV response strategy

The South Sudan Aids Commission yesterday said it urgently needs 300 million U.S dollars to implement its three -year national HIV response strategy amid funding shortfall caused by recent donor cuts.
The chairperson of South Sudan Aids commission Dr Esterina Novello, said they are yet to receive 120 million dollars pledged from the Global Fund, while the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) prior to suspending support to HIV/Aids contributed more than 40 million dollars annually to fight against HIV/Aids.
