Over 80 Trainees Graduate from Vocational Skills Programme in Juba

At least 83 trainees have graduated from a Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programme at St. Joseph Training Center in Juba, after completing practical skills training designed to equip them with vocational skills and enhance their prospects for employment and self-reliance.

The graduation was attended by Juba County officials, development partners, community representatives and other stakeholders, following a programme implemented by the Society of Daughters of Mary Immaculate and Collaborators (SDMIC), also known as the DMI Sisters, with support from the Strømme Foundation.

H.E. Deepak Miglani, the Indian Ambassador to South Sudan, graced the ceremony, congratulating the graduates, the DMI Sisters, and the Strømme Foundation for their commitment to skills development.

Ambassador Miglani pledged India’s continued support for capacity-building initiatives in South Sudan and encouraged shared responsibility among communities and stakeholders in fostering self-reliant communities.

Speaking on behalf of the Juba County Commissioner, Assistant Executive Director Gasim Erasto Ibrahim Lado congratulated the graduates and lauded the DMI Sisters and Strømme Foundation for their investment in vocational education.

Gasim emphasized that vocational training provides citizens with practical skills to improve their livelihoods and contribute to their communities, stating, “Specializing in such vocational training helps build the capacity of citizens to prosper.”

He also reaffirmed the Juba County Authority’s commitment to collaborating with stakeholders supporting youth empowerment and skills development.

Rev. John C. Daau, Director General of the Directorate of Vocational Training and Skills Development within the Ministry of Labor and Human Resources Development, also extended his congratulations.

He pledged the Directorate’s support to the DMI Sisters and other partners engaged in vocational  training, encouraging young people to embrace technical and vocational education as a pathway to self-reliance and opportunity within their communities.

The Juba County Authority praised the DMI Sisters, Strømme Foundation, and other partners for their investment in practical skills, which empowers citizens and contributes to local development.
