The Chairperson of the Political Parties Council (PPC), James Akol Zakayo, announced that the council has not received any official objections regarding political party registration or formal complaints from political parties concerning internal disputes.

Speaking at a press conference on Wednesday, Zakayo emphasized that the PPC regulates political parties and expects internal disagreements to be addressed through established party mechanisms and appropriate channels.

He reiterated that the council has not received any formal complaints about internal party disputes.

“These are internal matters that must be done within the party; we regulate parties, and if there are matters to do with the political parties, they must be raised through the agreed channels,”

Zakayo stated. “We have not received any formal complaint from them. So, until we receive a formal complaint, then we will respond. We don’t handle our matters in the media.”

This statement comes after Lam Akol Ajawin, Chairman of the National Democratic Movement (NDM), and Moro Isaac Genesio, Chairperson of the South Sudan National Movement for Change (SSNMC), alleged on September 30, 2026, that the PPC chairperson unilaterally altered their official registration details, including party names and leadership, without their consent.

According to the published list from the Political Parties Council, the National Democratic Movement (NDM) is now led by Mahjoub Biel Turuk, and the South Sudan National Movement for Change (SSNMC) is led by Clement Juma.

Zakayo further clarified that while the PPC regulates political parties, internal matters should first be handled within the parties before being brought to the regulator through appropriate procedures.

On September 22,2026, President Salva Kiir Mayardit dissolved the transitional unity government and appointed a caretaker administration to allow political parties to prepare for the general elections scheduled for December 22, 2026.
