The Central Equatoria State Governor, Gen. Augustino Jadalla Kamilo Wani, on Monday, directed the newly appointed caretaker ministers to safeguard public resources, protect government assets, and uphold accountability during their tenure.

Jadalla issued this directive during the swearing-in ceremony of the state’s caretaker ministers at the government secretariat in Juba.

“I further urge you to take proper care of the offices entrusted to you. These offices are not personal property,” Jadalla stated.

He emphasized, “As caretaker ministers, you must protect government assets, maintain proper records, safeguard public resources, and ensure that your ministries are functional in fulfilling their mandates.”

Jadalla instructed the caretaker ministers to exercise integrity, humility, discipline, and commitment while implementing the caretaker government’s mandate in line with national directives and the laws of South Sudan.

“You have not been appointed to these offices for personal benefit, but to serve the people and help deliver the caretaker mandate entrusted to us.”

He clarified that their sole mandate and responsibility is to prepare the people of Central Equatoria State for peaceful, credible, and orderly elections.

Jadalla directed the caretaker ministers to collaborate with relevant institutions and stakeholders to create an environment where citizens can participate freely and peacefully before and during the poll.

“I call upon you to promote civic awareness, dialogue, and peaceful political participation. Political differences should never become a reason for our communities to fight.”

He stressed the need to discourage hate speech, intimidation, violence, and political provocation during the election period to safeguard peace and stability in the state.

“Our people should approach the electoral process with one voice for peace and unity. Where disagreements exist, let us choose dialogue, reconciliation, and a lawful mechanism for resolving differences.”

Jadalla highlighted Central Equatoria as a diverse state, emphasizing the need to embrace diversity to strengthen unity.

“I urge you to promote unity and reconciliation among our communities. Let us rebuild trust, encourage forgiveness, and bring our people together around the common interest of peace and development.”
